The story of Myanmar Outreach Mission is Cin Cin Morton’s story. MOM, as it is affectionately known, came straight from the heart of Cin Cin. She never dreamed she would end up in the United States, married to an American. Cin Cin was born and grew up in the Chin State of Myanmar, and her heart was always in the mission field. She attended Bible College and earned a master’s degree and was working as a missionary and church planter when the unexpected happened. She was acting as an interpreter for a mission team from the United States, which was something she had done many times before. But she had no idea that God would use this particular mission team to change the direction of Cin Cin’s life. This is where she met her future husband, Barry Morton.
Several years later, Cin Cin found herself in Winston-Salem, NC, in a different country with a different language and different customs. She adapted to life as a wife and then as a mother to their son, Charlie.
But Cin Cin never lost her heart and her love for the mission field, and especially for her home country of Myanmar. She and Barry started supporting several Myanmar missionaries on their own, but then when the Myanmar Civil War broke out in 2021, the ability to spread the gospel became exceedingly difficult. Outside missionaries, like the mission team where Cin Cin and Barry met, could no longer enter the country for safety reasons. So, helping native Myanmar missionaries became a much needed and paramount goal.
Cin Cin found additional people who would join her and Barry in their Myanmar missionary support because God was raising up more missionaries who were willing and had the courage to share the Good News in their war-torn country. But these missionaries needed financial support to feed and take care of their families while they were out telling people about the hope of Jesus Christ. This support effort grew and grew until Cin Cin realized that she needed a more organized and official charity to meet the needs that God was bringing to her. This is when Myanmar Outreach Mission became an official non-profit corporation.
